On Saturday, join Slow Food Huron Valley at the annual Local Food Summit 2019 at Washtenaw Community College.

Starting at 8 a.m. in the Towsley Auditorium, taste local food, participate in farm and food workshops, take some farm tours (virtually, of course) and network with farmers, academics and others passionate about local food.

Learn more about sustainability and the diversity of local food culture while the kids have fun with some children’s programs. Throughout the day there will be in-depth sessions about the health and nutrition of livestock and a variety of other subjects.

A keynote speech will be given by Dr. Ivette Perfecto, George W. Pack Professor of Ecology, Natural Resources and Environment at the University of Michigan School for Environment and Sustainability.

While the cost of the summit is $50, subsidized options of $15 and $35 are available for those in need thanks to generous attendees who pay extra at registration to make the summit more accessible. All attendees, regardless of registration level, will have equal access to the summit as well as two meals and snacks.

For more details on different registration levels and costs, visit the Local Food Summit 2019 event page.
