A Livonia man is facing charges after he allegedly stole from a home and fled police, according to officials.
Macomb County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called Saturday to a home on 31 Mile Road Saturday. When they arrived, they saw a blue Chevy pickup truck fleeing the scene, according to a news release. Deputies tried to stop the truck but the driver kept going, according to police.
Deputies deployed stop sticks, and the truck hit the stop sticks and left the roadway. The truck stopped against a tree on Gratiot Avenue north of 25 Mile Road. Police said James Wallace, 46, was driving the truck and was taken into custody.
Items were recovered from the truck that had been taken from the home that Wallace is accused of stealing from. The truck itself was stolen out of another jurisdiction, according to police.
No injuries were reported.
Several police vehicles were damaged.
Wallace has been charged with:
Second-degree home invasion
Assault with a dangerous weapon
Receiving and concealing stolen property
Fourth-degree fleeing police
Wallace was arraigned Monday and received a $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to be back in court Feb. 20 at 9 a.m. for a preliminary cause conference.
